What is the difference between coaching and counseling?
Counseling usually involves a diagnosis and is more about mental health less about goal attainment in life, business and relationships. If an individual seeking coaching also displays symptoms that indicate there is a mental health issue in conjunction with frustration in goal attainment, a coach like myself, who is skilled in the mental health field, would be able to assess and recommend treatment. As a coach I do not do mental health treatment with clients that I coach. I would refer client to find a psychotherapist to work with. It would then be up to the client if they want to continue with the coaching relationship even as they are receiving mental health treatment. Both can occur at the same time depending on client’s diagnosis and ability to function and follow through on the assignments given. I will not coach someone who I assess to be unable to carry out the assignments agreed upon.
How will it work?
Following a free consultation you will decide whether you want to work with me or not. I only work with clients who can commit to at least the basic plan. It is the difference between just doing something emotionally driven, and something intentional. I believe that all success is intentional. This is your first commitment to yourself.
How much will coaching cost?
The initial consultation is free. Subsequent session will be based on the plan chosen by client. The plans will be discussed during the consultation and client will understand the value of each plan and be able to see which one may be the best fit according to their finances, time, and goals.
Can I receive a refund?
Accountability and commitment are two things that are needed if you will be successful in anything. I commit to be there in the position of your coach and you commit to the process of coaching. No refund is provided if you do not meet your commitment. If I on the other hand fail to fulfill my commitment to be available as contracted, then yes we can discuss a refund or some other arrangement. There is no guarantee of goal attainment just a guarantee that you will have tools and support to be able to move closer to success in your goals.
How long is a typical Coaching session?
Each session is planned for at least 50 minutes, but can last longer or be shorter depending on needs of client. Clients are reminded to make the best use of their time with me by coming prepared with the assignments they were given from last session.
HOW LONG WILL I NEED A COACH?
Minimally I recommend 2 months to be able to articulate your dream, set a reasonable goal, and design a plan to achieve it as well as take some first steps towards it. For some people this is enough. Most however, having experienced how much they accomplished with the help of a coach will want to continue for 6 months to 18 months towards the fulfillment of the goal. As a coach the skills that I help you build are your skills to use with any future goals. Coaching is not something that you should need forever; it is an intentional relationship with a set goal.
